DESSINEZ COMME JÉRÔME BOSCH - FAITES VOS GAMMES EN DESSIN - (ART CLASSE - PEINDRE AVEC LO)

DRAW LIKE JÉRÔME BOSCH - MAKE YOUR DRAWING RANGES - (ART CLASS - PAINTING WITH LO) Today, I decided to work on a character in the style of Hieronymus Bosch, based on a painting by this artist who has always fascinated me. Hieronymus Bosch is a famous Dutch artist of the late Middle Ages who was born in 1450 and died in 1516. He painted pessimistic religious and moral scenes, denouncing human folly, sin and the last judgment. He is recognized for his enigmatic, symbolic works teeming with fantastical creatures. He was originally from 's-Hertogenbosch. He is considered a surrealist before his time, mixing the sacred and the grotesque, paradise, earth and hell. The Garden of Delights is one of his major works, perhaps the best known. It is an oil on wood measuring 2.20 meters x 3.86 meters which would have been produced between 1480 and 1500. It is a very enigmatic triptych with numerous esoteric interpretations. The left panel represents heaven. The central panel, which is square, represents sinful humanity before the Flood. The right panel represents a vision of Hell where sinners suffer the torments of hell... Once closed, the exterior shutters represent the creation of the world painted in grisaille, that is to say in shades of gray. I have always loved the works of this artist... and more particularly this painting which is located in Spain. Today, to loosen my hand, before starting my real work, I am making a drawing of one of his characters. This is a small part of the painting. This pencil exercise allows me to stay in touch with drawing, which is fundamental in my work as a painter. I warm my hand. I stretch my fingers. The drawing, even if it is a grotesque character, allows me to keep shape and flexibility in my gestures. This drawing will never be exhibited. He will join the others which are only warm-up exercises. It will never be a finished work. For me, it's just a way to warm up... a bit like a guitarist stretching his fingers before going on stage. It is important to return to practice, to return to the source... My source is drawing. You have to practice again and again to aim for progression and, perhaps, one day, approach perfection. This drawing is quite far from what I usually do, but I take it as a warm-up. For this drawing, I used a graphite pencil and a black micro-pigment ink pen, which has a “brush” tip, like a paintbrush. The paper is tan in color, medium grain, 118 grams. The good thing about drawing is that it’s simple. You don't need a lot of equipment and you can practice anywhere. Since I travel quite often, sometimes for periods of several weeks, I prefer to travel light, as much as possible. When I look closely at this painting, I learn to see how he painted his characters. In the Garden of Earthly Delights, there are several figures who are naked. There, I chose a slightly more dressed character. I have always loved this painting. For me, this is one of the most fascinating paintings I have seen in my life. The more we look at it carefully, the more we see details that had escaped us. We never stop discovering new details with this painting. I learn of the artist by passing behind him, taking up one of his characters in drawing. This section of Hell is very symbolic. She has always fascinated me. As I always say: “Masters will never go out of fashion”. You should always refer to it. This is the best way to move forward without making a mistake... 🔥 Join this channel to benefit from exclusive benefits:    / @loartiste   🔥 TO FOLLOW ME ================== ► My website: https://loartiste.com/ ► My Facebook page:   / loartiste   ► My Instagram: Lo artist-painter ► My book, to get to know my work better: https://loartiste.com/produit/livre-n... 🔥 MY AMAZON SHOP ======================= https://www.amazon.ca/shop/loartiste 🔊 For royalty-free music and sounds, I have a subscription to EpidemicSound, you can try the service for free here: https://share.epidemicsound.com/37g3bn
