Didi, an orangutan born at Tobe Zoo in Ehime Prefecture (then 11 months old), was hand-reared (raised) after his mother, Marin, was unable to successfully breastfeed. A male zookeeper, Mr. Yoshino, was appointed to take Didi's place. He cares for him in the zookeeper's room during the day and at night takes him home to care for him. At home, his three children are his playmates, though sometimes they get into fierce fights. This is the first installment in a series documenting the growth of the zookeeper's family and their orangutan! *A sequel will be released soon as a separate video.
