Cabin Fever Knoxville Contra Dance Three days of music, dance, and hanging out with couple hundred of your best friends. In 2026 we are featuring Chris Page calling to the music of Contraforce and Starling. Registration is limited to 200. More info at https://www.knoxvillecontra.org/ Chris Page Chris Page has called contras and English country dance as a local caller in San Diego for about 15 years. When calling, his main concern is being serious about dancers not taking themselves too seriously. Chris also choreographs contras, some of which other people have even used willingly. And, with the help of Michael Dyck, he’s turned his obsession about the history of contra dance choreography into something productive through the online database, The Caller’s Box (see below!). When not calling, Chris lives in Los Angeles with his wife Melinda, helping write Beast Academy math texts for bored elementary school students. ContraForce Band Charleston-based quartet ContraForce may be deeply rooted in traditional folk music and the contra dance scene, but when it comes to composing and recording their own tunes, they certainly don’t shy away from musical experimentation. Fiddler Andrae Raffield, Percussionish/handpan/saxophonist Joey Dorwart, guitarist Jimi “Two Nails” Peirano, and Vocalist Karin Mcquade have collaborated on old standards and new originals, working in and around the Celtic and Appalachian folk styles normally featured at contra dances.
