We Rescued Abandoned Eggs

Today on the homestead, the kids and I find ourselves on an unexpected chick rescue mission. Our mother hens have abandoned their nests, but some of the eggs are still alive — and one tiny chick is already trying to hatch. We carefully bring the eggs inside, place them in the incubator, and wait to see if any of these fragile little chicks can make it out safely. Once they hatch, we have to decide whether to brood them ourselves or see if one of our hens will accept them as her own. It’s a sweet, surprising, and slightly nerve-wracking day on the farm as we try to help these abandoned eggs become healthy baby chicks.
