How an Innovation in Women’s Health Developed from One Woman’s Journey to Become a Mother

In this episode, I sit down with my friend of many years, Dr. Lara Zibners, board-certified pediatric emergency medicine specialist, hilarious author, mom by adoption and gestational carrier, and Co-Founder of Calla Lily Clinical Care. Lara called me out of the blue after reading about HelpUsAdopt.org in People Magazine, from London, where she was having it shipped at great expense to hold onto her American self. We talk about her seven rounds of IVF, what it felt like to never once get a positive pregnancy test, the moment she shifted from wanting to be pregnant to wanting to be a mother, how she built her family through adoption and a gestational carrier at the same time, and why she ultimately looked at a broken, painful piece of the fertility system and decided to fix it. Her company is developing what may become the world's first approved miscarriage prevention drug device, and this conversation is one of the most honest, funny, and important ones I've recorded.
