Pere Marquette 1225 Homecoming - Lake State Railway Passenger Specials May 16th & 17th

The weekend of May 16th brought me to Saginaw after hearing that Pere Marquette 1225 would be pulling a series of trips on Lake State Railway. These trips would be for Lake State employees on Saturday to Flint, and SRI volunteers on Sunday further south to Holly. For Sunday’s run, I picked up the chase where I left off in Flint and unfortunately could not beat the train to Holly. They really opened up the throttle on 1225 and put on quite the show, reaching speeds up to 40 miles per hour. While the Berkshire traversed this line hundreds of times during the Pere Marquette and Chesapeake & Ohio eras, it has been over 70 years since 1225 last ran south of Saginaw, passing many familiar searchlight signals and mileposts that hold memories of those days. Little did I know at the time, but the weekend was only the start of what I would witness. 1225 would pull a mile long freight train on Monday, the video of which you can find at this link:    • Pere Marquette 1225 Pulls 90-Car Unit Frei...   Overall, it was great to return trackside and witness history alongside some old friends. Thank you all for watching, and feel free to share if you enjoyed! -Casey Timestamps 0:00 Saginaw - Potter Street Station 2:55 Saginaw - Exiting Yard 4:45 South of Bridgeport 6:26 North of Birch Run 7:45 Clio 8:56 Day 2: South of Mt.
