Our final Stop is Friday Harbor | The Heart of San Juan Island

Join us for our final stop on San Juan Island as we explore Friday Harbor, the charming waterfront town that has long been the island’s heart and gateway. In this episode of Searching for History, Erin and I walk along the waterfront and talk about the town’s history. We visit “Interaction,” a striking red cedar house post sculpture honoring the Coast Salish people and their deep connection to these islands. Then we stroll to Memorial Park, a somewhat busy with traffic waterfront space that honor’s San Juan Island’s veterans and those that died in foreign wars. As we say goodbye to Friday Harbor and our journey across San Juan Island, we reflect on the island’s layered history—from Coast Salish heritage to early settlers and today’s vibrant harbor life. About Our Channel We’re Rolin and Erin, a husband-and-wife duo exploring the Pacific Northwest and beyond—uncovering the stories, places, and people that shaped history.
