In this video Jill shows you how to take ONE simple pattern and get a hundred different designs out of it, no new fabric needed. Because the chalk pen washes away completely, you can keep drawing fresh lines, circles and shapes onto the very same pattern, over and over. Working with Seigaiha (the wave) and Shippo Tsunagi (Seven Treasures), Jill builds checkerboards, fans and brand-new shapes, fills the blank spaces with names, dates, flowers and even her own "Kanji-style" signature, and turns finished pieces into book covers, a hanafukin (household cloth) and a zokin (mending cloth), all in the spirit of mottainai: waste nothing.
