Zé Ibarra: "Não precisa ser genial. Tem que ser honesto"

"Winning an award at 15 drove me a little crazy. I developed premature vanity, then a severe crisis. I was depressed for years. Today I know: whatever I do, it's better than not doing it. It doesn't have to be brilliant. It has to be honest," said musician, singer, and songwriter Zé Ibarra (@zeibarra). Winner of a Latin Grammy and collaborator with names like Caetano Veloso and Milton Nascimento, he is one of the most restless and inventive contemporary artists. On Trip FM on TV Cultura, he recalls his childhood in Rio de Janeiro, surrounded by freedom and discovery, shares his early passion for music, reveals behind-the-scenes details of Afim, his new solo album, and talks about the courage to expose oneself. "Some artists create a persona to protect themselves. But this ends up molding you into something that isn't you. That's why, on stage, I always want to bare myself, to be exactly who I am, completely. I want to feel the fear of stares, because that's what makes me feel great."
