De jacht op de Aziatische hoornaar: zo werd een nest in Enschede opgespoord en vernietigd
By the end of July, the Asian hornet task force was practically certain: there's a nest somewhere in the Stroinkslanden neighborhood of Enschede. Such a nest must be destroyed, otherwise five to seven will return next year. This poses a major threat to biodiversity, as a single Asian hornet nest eats around twelve kilograms of insects per season. That's why a task force has been established to locate and remove every breeding site. It's a military operation using the latest technology. The aforementioned nest in Enschede was recently removed – and this is how it went.
