La Isla Mall Mérida, Yucatán Mexico 🛍️ | A Look Inside One of the City’s Most Popular Shopping Centers. La Isla Mérida in Yucatán is one of the best shopping malls in the region. I’ve always loved the idea of the mall as a social place, and while that culture has faded in the United States, it’s still alive and well in Mexico. Growing up, my friends and I went to the mall not necessarily to shop, but to hang out and socialize — something that’s becoming increasingly rare back home. 👉 🔔    / @ericlivi   In Mexico, malls like La Isla continue to thrive. People gather with family and friends, grab food at the food court, enjoy an ice cream, or just walk around. Even for those who don’t buy much, it’s a safe and pleasant space to spend the day. La Isla is unique thanks to its enormous skylight (or traga luz), which floods the interior with natural light. There’s also a beautiful outdoor area with a man-made lake where you can watch people water ski using a cable system — complete with ramps and jumps. The main attraction is Liverpool, Mexico’s most iconic department store. Inside you’ll find everything from food stands, chocolates, pastries, and Thai dishes to clothing, furniture, electronics, and more. It’s a one-stop destination — the one at Galerías even has a Krispy Kreme! I hope you enjoy the video and the look inside La Isla.
