Dr David Bell, who was a whistleblower at the Tavistock Trust, says a landmark review into gender identity healthcare proves that a clinical approach to affirm a child's wish to change gender is "completely wrong". It comes as Dr Hilary Cass released her report stating there is "remarkably weak evidence" to support gender treatments for children. In 2018, Dr Bell compiled a report detailing concerns some staff had raised with him about how the Gender Identity Development Service (Gids) at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust was operating.
