Daily thoughts fade away, and the mind becomes clear. Whether martial arts, flower arranging, calligraphy or tea ceremony, traditional Japanese 'do' offers the human spirit a place to reconnect, refresh, and become fully present. Whilst I am far from being expert, and still have so much to learn, there is something that makes me feel so at home when I enter the tea room. The outside world and all my worries and thoughts are momentarily forgotten, and instead, there is only the soft 'swish' of the kimono, the subtle fragrance of tatami, the trickle of water from kettle to cup. These minute details invite me back to all that I have: this very moment, right in front of me. I share this video with you to bring you back to your present moment, and remind you of the importance of the small things. Feel free to listen to this video as you sleep, or to watch each delicate action, so carefully practiced year after year, yet all done for a sense of ease that comes only from a clear mind. A beautiful dichotomy, a luxury within simplicity, that is tea ceremony.
