Polytechnique : comment la foi m'a sauvée de l'insupportable

December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This date, heavy with emotion, recalls the worst tragedy in Quebec's history: the Polytechnique massacre, also known as the Montreal massacre. The perpetrator of this insane act was Marc Lépine. He was my son. This book is neither a justification nor an attempt to erase the irreparable. Rather, it is the testimony of an ordinary woman to whom life demanded the extraordinary: to survive the unbearable, to rise again after the inconceivable, and to learn to live in a world that seemed to have collapsed. If I choose to share my story today, it is because I have come to understand that others suffer in silence, as I once did. These pages bear my truth: my mistakes, my illusions, my struggles, my weaknesses, but also the unsuspected strengths I discovered through my faith. Perhaps my journey can offer some comfort, a form of understanding, or simply the presence of a voice that says, "You are not alone." We can get back up. Life can begin again. Because yes, there is life after hardship. A different life, but a real one, when we allow our hearts to be healed by Jesus, our great comforter. This is my legacy.
