Ahmet Kerim Bekcan - Türk Resminin Karnavalı: Fikret Muallâ Üzerine

This seminar will discuss the life and art of painter Fikret Muallâ, based on new findings presented in the master's thesis of art historian Ahmet Kerim Bekcan titled "Fikret Muallâ: Metropolitan and Cosmopolitan Encounters." About Ahmet Kerim Bekcan: Ahmet Kerim Bekcan graduated from the Department of Art History at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. During his undergraduate studies, he received art history education at the Universität Duisburg-Essen in Germany as part of the Erasmus program. He completed his master's degree at the Department of Western Art and Contemporary Art, Institute of Social Sciences, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. In his thesis, "Fikret Muallâ: Metropolitan and Cosmopolitan Encounters," he re-evaluated the painter Fikret Muallâ in light of new findings obtained through research conducted in the Digital Archives of Heidelberg University Library and the State Archives. She served as a member of the organizing and management board for the 7th, 8th, and 9th editions of the Istanbul Archaeology and Art History Student Symposium. Since 2024, she has been working at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet and continues her research on art history.
