After 3 months in Italy, we finally took our first getaway

Three months after arriving in Italy, we're finally beginning to settle into the rhythm we dreamed about for so long. This week felt a little different. While we were away, both of our showers were finally completed, Michael continued restoring another antique piece for our home, and we picked up our first car in Italy. But the highlight of the week was a birthday gift I had patiently waited six months for — our first getaway since moving to Italy. We spent four unforgettable nights in a beautiful 12th-century tower in Vicopisano, Tuscany, where we were welcomed by our wonderful hosts Marie and Lorenzo from Authentic Tuscany. What began as a stay became the beginning of a lovely friendship. Along the way we explored the vintage markets one of my favourite past times. After a long train journey home, our little local restaurant just steps from our front door reminded us once again why we love life here in southern Italy.
