Taller Talla de Santos (Explicativo de Caritas)

Today we review the basic movements for carving a face, as we learned them from the great master carver José Rosado. The basic strokes are called "movements," and the work follows a specific order, so that each movement complements the previous one. By sharing this information, I wish to acknowledge the master of faces in Puerto Rico and his generosity in sharing his enormous talent. I must clarify that I am only an apprentice who had the honor of being guided in a few classes by Rosado. However, the spirit that surrounds us in this carving workshop is to share everything we know or have learned, being educators and students simultaneously. There are no egos here, just enthusiastic fellow countrymen in love with carving. That is why my partner and I travel from Utuado every Saturday to join this valuable, necessary, and promising initiative. We welcome everyone; you don't need to know anything, just have joy in your heart.
