A Blessing and a Curse - 2 Peter 1:8-11

There is a big “if” in our 2 Peter 1:8 & 10. It is not a question, suggesting that salvation is fragile, the work of Jesus is incomplete, or that if we stumble our place among the covenant people of God is jeopardy. Rather, it is a statement of cause and effect. It presents a condition that when met, will inexorably produce what is promised. The "if" is focused in the results of God’s gracious provision (v. 3) and our generous cooperation with Him in our sanctification (v. 5 - 7). God will keep His end of the bargain. Every effort we make will be worth it. As we play the long game in partnership with the Holy Spirit, there is set before us a blessing and a curse. A blessing we do. The removal of that blessing if we don't.
