Robert "Bob" Bentley Animation
Robert Jarvis Bentley (often credited as Bob Bentley) was an American animator who worked at Warner Bros., Fleischer Studios, Walter Lantz Productions, MGM and Depatie Freleng, alongside several early television studios such as Hanna-Barbera and Ed Graham Productions. Before his first onscreen credit, he had previously worked as an assistant at the Van Beuren Corporation, Disney and Les Elton Cartoons as early as 1929. Bentley's style can be recognized on a few key features: simple face construction (favoring spaced rounded eyes, large pupils and thick eyebrows), held key poses longer than two or one frame and favoring side-profile shots. Some aspects of Bentley's work is recognizable to the style of early Van Beuren films and if he were to have animated uncredited scenes from that era (he began work at Disney in 1935), this video could potentially be used to identify them. Music used: "Just A Simple Melody" by Chick Webb and His Orchestra, "Oh Boy!" by Jimmie Lunceford and "Hick Stomp" by Ambrose All clips use the best available information and are presumed in instances of absences of documentation. They were verified by a circle of notable historians at the time.
