Kanak Dance - Wetr Company

We feel very sad with what’s been happening in New Caledonia. Let’s all remember that the Kanak people have had a presence on the archipelago for thousands of years. Like the First Nation people in Australia, their culture deserve respect and celebration. Here is a dance sequence we have filmed near the Centre Culturel Tjibaou in Noumea, when we had the privilege to meet this enthralling Kanak dance group, the Wetr Company. Giving respect to the integrity of the performance, we have edited the full dance sequence (filmed during the making of a documentary pilot in 2000, produced at the time by Dominique Lasseur, directed by Catherine Tadge with Director of Photography Philippe Charluet). This was subsequently made as a full doco, Dances of Life, broadcast worldwide in 2005. More info: https://www.stellamotion.com.au/wordp...
