$60 Atari 2600 Jr. eBay Bundle, Restoration PSU Hack

Today we're taking a look at an Atari 2600 Junior, a classic retro gaming console from the late 1980s. I picked this one up on eBay as an untested bundle, and in this video I document the full process of getting it working again. The video covers several power supply options for the Atari 2600, including building a custom PSU using a cheap AliExpress power module and making a custom power plug for the console. This is a practical alternative to expensive or hard-to-find original Atari power adapters. Once powered, the console still had issues, particularly with cartridge slot connectivity. I diagnose the problem and restore reliable operation using contact cleaner, followed by a full cleaning of the PCB, cartridge slot, console case, and joysticks. The result is a fully working Atari 2600 Jr ready to play classic games like PITFALL!. If you’re interested in retro console repair, Atari restoration, vintage electronics, or classic gaming hardware, this video walks through the process step by step. 📺 Subscribe to Gerry's Tech    / @gerrystech   Quick Links: 00:00 Start 00:59 Unboxing 03:10 Power Options 03:49 Option 1 - Buy Replacement 04:03 Option 2 - Reusing an Existing Adapter 05:50 Option 3 - Use a Lab Power Supply Module 06:33 Building a Power Supply 07:36 Power Supply Construction 10:25 Testing the Unit 11:45 Testing the Cartridges 14:14 Problems With the Cartridges 15:50 Joystick Testing 17:00 Next Steps 18:42 Opening the Console 22:30 Microscope - Checking for Cold Solder Joints 25:34 The FIX! 28:18 Cleaning the Board 29:34 Cleaning the Case 32:46 Cleaning the Joysticks 30:52 Removing the Protective Film 33:47 Final Testing - How to Play DODGE'EM 34:26 Conclusion #Atari2600 #RetroGaming #ConsoleRepair #VintageGaming #AtariRestoration #RetroConsole #ElectronicsRepair #ClassicGaming #AtariJr
