The Rapidly Growing Hamburg U-Bahn (Hochbahn) 🇩🇪🚇 | Urban Transport #44

This video will describe the amazing Hamburg U-Bahn network, also branded as Hamburg Hochbahn. The branding of Hochbahn originates from the fact that a big part of the first line of this network is built as elevated rail. The network uses 2 train types, the DT4 (built by ABB and LHB) and the DT5 (built by Alstom and Bombardier). The network has 4 lines, although line U4 is more like a branch of line U2. A lot of constructions are ongoing currently, with a branch of line U4 to Horner Geest and the completely new U5. Line U5 will be fully automated, a first for the city. The most scenic views on the network can be found along line U3, on the elevated section that runs along the Elbe. Sights to be seen here are the Elbphilharmonie and Landungsbrücken. Hamburg is Germany's second-largest city and most important seaport. This video is the 44th episode of the series Urban Transport, with full-on descriptions of various urban public transport networks (mostly in Europe).
