VN24 - Dolberg / Unna / Germany - On Thursday 16.1.2020 at 02:54 a.m. the police arrested two suspects after a car chase on the motorway A2 in the Unna district. This had been preceded by a break-in at a supermarket on Alleestraße in Dolberg (Warendorf), which was reported by a resident to the Warendorf police control centre at 02:30 am. According to him, three people in a vehicle with Cologne license plates were on the run in the direction of the motorway. While part of the task force took care of the crime scene at the supermarket, other forces took up pursuit on the motorway. Shortly afterwards, pursuing officers spotted a suspicious vehicle on the A2 between the junction Bönen and the Kamener Kreuz. The driver of the suspicious car left the motorway at high speed at the Bergkamen/Kamen junction and drove into the Bergkamen-Oderaden district. There the escape from the officers ended when the driver of the Ford car crashed into a tree on Sugambrerstraße. The two police officers from the patrol car detained the driver and a passenger. A third suspect managed to escape on foot. The police also used a helicopter to search for the unknown person. The two suspects were injured in the collision with the tree and were taken to hospital for further medical treatment. One person is lightly injured, the second seriously. The Ford was recovered by a tow truck. The car contained objects that could possibly be related to the break-in at the supermarket (lots of cigarette packets). The patrol car of the pursuit forces also had to be towed away, because the driver rammed the car of the suspects on Sugambrerstrasse.
