Yomo Toro ‎– Funky Jibaro (Antilles New Directions, 1988) Full Album [Latin]

``Part of a major rush of album work by Yomo Toro in the '80s and '90s, Funky Jibaro is a very nice LP of basic Puerto Rican traditional music and salsa, with a touch of New York or Nuyorican influence here and there. The album is a full press of pumping beats and full arrangements for a midsize band and rotating vocalists. The star of the show all the way though is Yomo Toro himself, using the cuatro for catchy riffs, for backing the vocalists, for extended solo displays of virtuosity, and for laying out grooves when he isn't busy with other duties on the instrument. Overall, it's a nice mix of recognizable tunes and new pieces, with all of the musicians delivering good performances. Entirely solid -- and mostly danceable, too.`` Yomo Toro ‎– Funky Jibaro Label: Island Records ‎– 90693-1, Antilles New Directions ‎– AN 8723 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album Country: US Released: 1988 Genre: Latin Style: Cuatro, Salsa, Funk Tracklist A1 Funky Jibaro 0:00 A2 El Sapo 3:37 A3 Cuatro Pachanga 8:13 A4 Tributo A Los Angelitos Negros 12:04 A5 Recuerdame 16:17 B1 Mambo Oriental 20:14 B2 A La Verde Gue 24:24 B3 Minerva 28:37 B4 Raging Toro 30:41 B5 Cuatro Feeling 34:06 Credits Bass – Ruben Figueroa Bongos – Angel Luis Cabrera Congas, Guest – Daniel Ponce Cuatro – Yomo Toro Drums – Orlando Silva Engineer – Robbie Norris, Shawna Stobie Guiro, Lead Vocals – Cali Rivera (tracks: B2) Lead Vocals – Dalia Silva (tracks: A2, A5) Mastered By – Howie Weinberg Producer, Engineer – Robert Musso Synthesizer – Steve Sandberg Violin – Lewis Kahn #vinylrip
