BUILDING A 10 SECOND 1/4 MILE DRAG CAR FOR £2000

That's right, you can run a 1/4 mile in under 11 seconds for only £2000. Carl Goldsmith who races in the VWDRC in the VWPRO class, in his 9 second Mk2 Golf, has done just that with the purchase of a Mk4 Golf, and a few modifications. The costs involved were..... Mk4 Golf (with 10 second spec roll cage fitted) and a 1.8T Engine - £500 Maxpeeding Rods - £150 ARP Head Bolts - £140 MS2 ECU (of his Mk2) - £300 Deka 875cc Injectors - £100 2nd Hand Used Clutch - £150 AEM400 Fuel Pump - £130 Holset HX40 Turbo (Used on Mk2 Golf) - £50 Exhaust Piping - £50 Fittings - £150 Spare Engine + 6 Speed box - £150 Extras - £130 TOTAL - £2000 Carl was racing in the car a few weeks back and managed a mid 11 with the gearbox that came with the car, but since swapping to the 6 speed box, has dipped into the 10's. The car has now become a bit of a must drive for other racers in the VWDRC, with everyone trying to get in the 10 second club.
