Diving HMS Scylla and James Egan Layne, Plymouth 2018

A composite of 3 dives with Aquanauts on HMS Scylla, sunk in 2004 as an artificial reef, and one on the JEL, a Liberty Ship torpedoed in 1945. After a scouting dive we did several straight-through penetrations of Scylla and had a look round the bridge. JEL's masts, funnel and other upperworks are spread in a debris field along the port side and there are several spaces to explore within the holds and engine room. We didn't visit the stern section, which became detached when she sank. On JEL in particular I was looking rather than filming but the few clips here do I think capture the haunting feel of the wreck as she slowly breaks down. #aquanautsuk #apeksdiving #wreckdiving #hmsscylla #jameseganlayne #padiwreckdiver
