New York's Other Park Avenue — Under the Rails in East Harlem, a Street Being Reborn (4K HDR)

Park Avenue means wealth — doorman buildings, tulip medians, some of the most expensive real estate on Earth. But the avenue got its name from a railroad: downtown, the tracks were buried and landscaped over. North of 97th Street they surface, and for thirty blocks through East Harlem the trains run overhead on a stone wall and a steel viaduct while a very different Park Avenue lives underneath — a 1936 market, garden centers, auto shops, empty lots, brand-new apartment towers, and a viaduct that is being rebuilt piece by piece right now. This 4K HDR walk follows it all: from East 100th Street under the 1875 stone arches, past La Marqueta and the Harlem–125th Street station, through the construction zone, to East 132nd Street where the rails leave Manhattan over the Harlem River.
