This means that both New Zealand and Egypt could not only take the lead in the group with a win, but also take a significant step towards the playoffs. Egypt secured an excellent starting position in their bid for the knockout stage with a 3-1 (0-1) victory against New Zealand – Mo Salah delivered a brilliant performance. The African superstar set a new record at this World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico with ten shots on goal – and also contributed two goals and assists. Now the final group matches are on the schedule. New Zealand will continue their campaign on Saturday (5 a.m. CEST) in Vancouver against Belgium.
