A Bit of Fry: Stephen Fry in conversation with Anish Gawande | Jaipur Literature Festival 2026
Witty, erudite, and endlessly curious, Stephen Fry reflects on a life lived at the intersection of acting, storytelling, and comedy. From stage to screen, books to broadcasts, he shares insights, anecdotes, and the mischievous intelligence that have defined his career—offering audiences a rare glimpse into the mind behind one of Britain’s most beloved voices - in conversation with Anish Gawande. Stephen Fry is an English actor, writer, poet, comedian, television presenter, and film director. Notable acting roles include his award-winning performance in Wilde, his iconic projects with Hugh Laurie including ‘A Bit of Fry and Laurie’, ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ and ‘Blackadder’, and his memorable turns in blockbuster projects ‘V for Vendetta’, the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ films and ‘The Hobbit’ series. His recent television credits include ‘The Dropout’ and ‘The Sandman’. Stephen’s recent European feature film ‘TREASURE’ had its world premiere at this year’s Berlinale. As a proudly out gay man, the award-winning ‘Out There’, is part of his thirty-year advocacy of the rights of the LGBT community. Anish Gawande is a politician, writer, and art-world troublemaker. Based between Mumbai and Delhi, he is the National Spokesperson of the NCP (SP) and the founder of Pink List India, the country’s first archive of politicians supporting LGBTQ+ rights. A Rhodes Scholar with degrees from Columbia and Oxford, he writes, translates, and curates at the intersections of literature, politics, and contemporary South Asian art.
