Sei Bhalo Sei Bhalo Rquaiya Hasina Neely, a devoted Tagore singer, has been singing Tagore songs for more than four decades. Neely is the elder daughter of martyred intellectual (Liberation War 1971) father S. M. A. Rashidul Hasan, who was a teacher of English at Dhaka University. The Government of Bangladesh has honored her father by awarding him the Independence Day Award 2018 in recognition of his contribution to the War of Liberation. Rashidul Hasan liked Tagore's songs very much, and it was his dream that his daughter would one day become a Tagore singer. Roquaiya Hasina didn’t forget her father’s wish and continued her music education. She finished her five-year course in music at Chhayanat Biddayatan. She is a music director (part-time) of Bangladesh Television (BTV). Neely had been teaching for many years at Chhayanat and also at Government Music College, Agargaon, Dhaka. She is now the director and music trainer of the musical organization Abbhudoy, founded by renowned music director and Tagore singer late Ajit Roy. She was the cultural secretary of Dhaka University Alumni Association. She has released six music albums. Neely performed songs as an invited artist at functions in the USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India. Neely received the prestigious Citycell-Channel I music award2008 for best vocal in Rabindra Sangeet. Shadhinata Academy Foundation, Bangladesh, awarded ‘Sammanana 2014 ’, and Fakir Alamgir’s Rishij Shilpi Gosti awarded ‘Sammanana 2019’ to the artist in recognition of her contribution to Tagore songs.
