Checking Fluid Level:    • Checking Transmission Fluid Level | Ford E...   The check plug may be 14mm instead of Hex-10 on older models (2013-2016). When checking the fluid, leave the engine running and access the plug through the bottom of the car. With the fluid warm, there should be a slow trickle of fluid coming out of the plug. If its running out fast enough to spill on the subframe, its definitely overfilled. You can let it drain until at the right level (just watch until its level). If you need to add fluid, the easy way is to insert a transmission dipstick into the transmission vent up top (perfect fit). The vent is a little cap that has Mercon LV stamped on it.
