1983: The Junior Kick Start Grand Final | BBC Archive

Peter Purves and Mick Andrews present the Grand Final of Junior Kick Start, a special series of the motorcycle trials competition for young riders. There are two events - the senior competition, for riders aged 12 to 15, and the junior competition, for riders aged 8 to 11. The senior final takes place over two legs, with riders tackling the obstacle course in both directions, with the winner being determined by their aggregate time over the two events. Competitors in the junior event go round the course just the once. 00:00 Introduction 01:00 Senior Race running order 01:21 Martin Arden - 1st leg 02:34 Gavin Cooper - 1st leg 04:20 Timothy Martin - 1st leg 05:43 Peter Ashmore - 1st leg 07:21 Lance Ingham - 1st leg 09:18 Steven Hole - 1st leg 10:30 Lance Ingham - 2nd leg 11:56 Gavin Cooper - 2nd leg 13:44 Martin Arden - 2nd leg 14:53 Peter Ashmore - 2nd leg 16:18 Timothy Martin - 2nd leg 17:33 Steven Hole - 2nd leg 18:51 Junior Race running order 19:32 Darren Snell 21:01 Neal O'Sheen 22:58 Wayne Baybrook 24:56 Steven Colley 27:01 James Bentley 29:40 John Shirt 31:08 Final standings 31:51 Trophy presentation Clip taken from Junior Kick Start, originally broadcast on BBC One, 4 January, 1983.
