This is Scary! If You Own GOLD or SILVER, You Need to See This NOW – Alasdair Macleod

As financial pressure builds, Alasdair Macleod believes the focus will quickly shift from markets to accountability. He argues that during a major financial crisis, profitable companies could be accused of price gouging, rising bond yields and borrowing costs could drive more businesses into bankruptcy, commodity producers could be blamed for higher energy prices, and political leaders could face growing public criticism as economic conditions worsen. Macleod says this is one reason gold has repeatedly played a central role during periods of financial stress. Unlike paper assets, he argues, physical gold does not depend on the financial strength of a government or institution. He believes that helps explain why many central banks have been adding to their gold reserves in recent years, exchanging financial assets and fiat currencies for physical bullion. Based on that view, Macleod questions the traditional approach of spreading investments across stocks, bonds, real estate, and cash. He argues that these assets all carry some form of credit or counterparty risk. Instead, he believes investors should place greater emphasis on reducing that risk by owning physical gold and, to a lesser extent, silver, particularly if financial conditions become more unstable.
