Omicidio Milano Certosa, resta in carcere il 19enne accusato di aver colpito e ucciso il 22enne
The video reports current events for informational and journalistic purposes only, out of respect for the people involved. Jefferson Smit Echevarria Verano, the 19-year-old of Peruvian origin accused of being the perpetrator of the murder of Gianluca Ibarra Silvera at the Milan Certosa station, remains in prison. This was decided by investigating judge Sara Cipolla, who validated the precautionary measure after an interrogation in which the young man answered all the questions. This decision brought his family to tears, convinced of his innocence despite the evidence from the cameras and the testimonies of those present. During the interrogation, the 19-year-old reiterated that he did not strike and kill Gianluca, who died on the evening of Tuesday, May 26, after being stabbed 30 times. However, he acknowledged that he had been a long-time member of the Latin Kings gang, a South American criminal gang that operates in the Milan Certosa area. The young man is being represented by lawyer Stefano Afrune, who has said he is ready to appeal to the Court of Appeal to demonstrate certain elements of weakness, first and foremost the absence of blood on Verano's clothes, which investigators have found. According to the boy's version, as reported by his lawyer, the victim was part of a group of three or four people who, shortly after 9:00 PM, clashed for the second time with the "Latin Kings" group. Prior to that, around 3:00 PM, the gang had another brawl with another gang, the "MS13." Verano was unable to confirm whether Ibarra belonged to the rival "Latin Kings" gang, but he stated that the 22-year-old was part of the evening group that allegedly initiated provocations. However, investigating judge Cipolla did not find the 19-year-old's version credible, deeming it "formulated only to shift responsibility," and instead supported the case of mistaken identity hypothesized by the Prosecutor's Office, represented by prosecutor Elio Ramondini. There were 17 attackers in total, whom the judge accused of "lucidity, coldness, and contempt." Another of them has been detained but remains untraceable.
