The Anthrax Album That Almost Destroyed the Band
The Anthrax Album That Almost Destroyed the Band | The Story of Stomp 442 By 1995, Anthrax had already survived one major lineup change. John Bush had stepped in, Sound of White Noise was a success, and it looked like the band had found new life. But behind the scenes, everything was beginning to unravel. Longtime lead guitarist Dan Spitz had left the band, forcing Anthrax to record Stomp 442 without a permanent lead guitarist. With guest appearances from Dimebag Darrell, Paul Crook, Mike Tempesta, and Zach Throne, the band somehow pieced together one of the heaviest and most underrated albums of the John Bush era. In this video, we dive deep into the making of Stomp 442, including: Why Dan Spitz left Anthrax Recording the album without a lead guitarist Dimebag Darrell's unforgettable guest solos The bizarre Storm Thorgerson album cover The censorship controversy Elektra Records' lack of support Why the album divided fans and critics How Stomp 442 has become a cult favorite among Anthrax fans Was Stomp 442 unfairly overlooked, or was it simply the wrong album at the wrong time?
