Over his tour on the drill field, he trained 7 recruit platoons and held every key role within Marine Corps recruit training: Drill Instructor Senior Drill Instructor Chief Academics Instructor Unit Chief Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (SNCOIC), Academic Instruction Unit (AIU) Curriculum Developer — MCRD San Diego and MCRD Parris Island Chris was a two-time Merit Board winner — recognized at his command for sustained excellence on the drill field. That record led to his hand-selection as 1 of only 10 Drill Instructors from across all five battalions of MCRD Parris Island to compete at the annual Depot Meritorious Promotion Board. On January 2, 1997, before a board of 10 Sergeants Major, 1 Colonel, with 1-Star General sign-off, Chris was ranked #1 of 10 and meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant (E-6). His role as Curriculum Developer at both MCRD San Diego and MCRD Parris Island — the only two recruit training depots in the United States Marine Corps — placed him among the small number of Marines responsible for writing and standardizing the doctrine used to train every Marine produced in America. 🛡️ FROM THE DRILL FIELD TO THE NATIONAL STANDARD From training Marines to defend the nation, to police service, to authoring the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Emergency Operations Plan firearms carry policy and the PRO Model™ Active Shooter Prevention framework — the same standard of excellence, applied to every mission.
