Copywork With Me Chapter 28

Word count in this video: 100,925 to 102,331 Chapter 28 Total goal: approximately 350,000 words Skipped a bit this week as I was completing a writing residency, which means I banked some hours on the book and the copy work that I didn't end up making into videos. The residency finale was a nerve-wracking experience. We read aloud from our books, and my hand shook so badly I could hardly navigate the document that contained my excerpt. The human body is a wild thing. I trained as an actor and never got stage fright, but performing my own work is somehow so much more terrifying. Something very sad this week, too. My mother's boyfriend passed away. He was quite elderly, but I had known him from birth — my parents and this man and his wife were best friends for a very long time — and he was very kind to my mom. Their relationship caused a fair bit of angst for some other members of both our families, which was always hard for me to understand. People deserve to feel joy. But there were other people, observers, who made this about themselves for some reason, and that was hard to witness. No matter what, it is always hard to lose someone you care about and who knew you in the formative years of your life. He had a nickname for me that no one else ever called me ("Angelina"), and when they got together later in life, he called me that a few times again and it made my heart happy. I hope he's at peace, wherever we go in the transition. My mind has been on that this week, and the importance of living ourselves in the fullness of what we want in the short, short time we are given. One thing he said to my mom, and this was a couple of months ago now, was that he had nothing to look forward to anymore, as his daughters had relocated him into a facility. Devastating.
