Risk Calculation - Surge Protection Part 6

How to obtain the Calculated Risk Level (CRL) for an installation using the methods shown in BS7671:2018. This is used in a few instances to determine whether surge protection is required or not. A value is derived from three things - whether the installation is urban/rural, the lightning flash density for the location, and the length & type of cables that supply the installation, such as underground or overhead. Note that this calculation is only required if multiple other factors have already been considered and do not apply - in reality this calculation is only required for a tiny minority of installations. If cable lengths are unknown, default values can be used, and for most of the UK, using those values results in surge protection being required.
