To do this, straighten the neck. Place one hand on the forehead, the other on the chin. Then, cover the mouth (or the child's mouth and nose) with your lips and perform a breath. CPR in this case begins with 5 breaths. Remember that a child's lung capacity is much smaller than that of an adult. After these breaths are performed, send someone to call 911 or take out your phone, dial 112, leave it on speakerphone, and immediately begin breaths and compressions. If a cough reflex appears after taking breaths, help the victim turn onto their side and encourage coughing. Calling an ambulance should not be cancelled due to the risk of secondary drowning. ✅ Compressions are performed with two fingers, one or both hands, depending on the victim's age.
