What cargo we haul, breakdowns on the road, and much more USA, Spring 2026 =================================== Deadwood is a city and the county seat of Lawrence County in the state of South Dakota, USA. The city owes its name to early settlers who discovered numerous dead trees in a local ravine. The city's heyday was from 1876 to 1879, following the discovery of gold deposits here, which marked the beginning of the Black Hills Gold Rush. It attracted such legendary figures of the Wild West as Wyatt Earp, Calamity Jane, Seth Bullock, and Wild Bill Hickok (the latter was killed in Deadwood). The entire town has been designated a National Historic Landmark District due to its preserved Gold Rush-era architecture. The town boasts five historical museums, managed by the nonprofit organization Deadwood History, Inc.
