How to Make Sari Silk Tassels for Boho Necklaces
In this video I will be demonstrating how I make Sari silk tassels for my long beaded chain necklaces. Is this the ONLY way to make tassels, no! But it is what I have come up with in order to make tassels that I visually like. I encourage you to take what I have done and make it your own! The tools I usually use for tassel making are: round nose plier, chain nose plier, flat nose plier, nylon jaw plier, snippers, and scissors. Materials used in this video: Sari silk ribbon (though you can use regular ribbon, Fairy silk, cording of your choice) Embroidery floss/thread usually matching the ribbon you are using - 2 strands 20 gauge, medium round wrapping wire (I used gold colored on this project) Tulip Bead cap or any cap the covers the top of the tassel Bead(s), small bead caps or spacers of your choice Where I purchased my materials*: Sari silk is from FeltBetter on Etsy Fairy Silk and beads from Jesse James Beads© Tulip bead caps from ChasingTheSpark or Ornamentea (both on Etsy) Artisan tulip beads from OneSpiritArtworx on Etsy. PLEASE NOTE: this maker hand paints all of the bead caps AFTER you order them. So they do take one to two weeks longer to arrive than what is expected -- but they are worth it! *Are these the ONLY places to purchase these items from -- NO! They are just the ones who have been consistent for me and where I found I get more bang for my buck! I do NOT get paid by these people to advertise for them, though I am a Jesse James Beads© Ambassador and do on occasion receive free products. Hi, my name is Tracy Sparks and I am the owner/designer/maker at Sparklesalot2 where I make handcrafted jewelry and accessories. I have been making jewelry for almost 20 years! I first started out making seed and bugle bead earrings to match some Native American rings I had inherited. After 6 months of trial and error, I finally got one pair made, (after numerous attempts). I was a Certified Jewelry Instructor at Michaels for over 8 years, which complimented the other creative part of my life, being a teacher on cello/violin and a musician/cellist playing in up to four orchestras and small ensembles. My styles and skills in jewelry making slowly evolved and finally settled on what I call “Boho-bling” and “Boho-western”. One of my favorite pieces to make are beaded chain necklaces, though my love for bead weaving will always be there! I do love to experiment with the pieces I make, because quite frankly, that is the fun part of being creative! You can find my jewelry pieces and/or videos on the following platforms: Etsy, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube
