Kaona: Skippy + Zazou - Superbooth 25

At Superbooth 2025, we had a chat with Gilles about two intriguing products from Kaona: Skippy and *Zazou*. Skippy is designed for rhythm creation, but not in the traditional sequential sense; instead, it focuses on rhythm with time manipulation. The module allows you to declench time, enabling both standard rhythmic patterns and stretched, unique sequences. Skippy supports diverse clock types, including polyrhythm and matrix clock, allowing versatile time exploration. Gilles also introduced us to *Zazou*, which is aimed at generating fractal melodies using various algorithms. It supports musical standards such as walking bass and arpeggios, and provides an output across multiple MIDI channels. The connection between the two modules is seamless, offering numerous creative possibilities. Both Skippy and Zazu are available now, with Skippy priced at $340 and Zazu at $402. These modules present innovative approaches to handling rhythm and melody in modular synthesis.
