Dedi made this statement after visiting Bandung Zoo on Tuesday (March 31, 2026). Dedi visited with the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman. "The problem is about 90 percent resolved. Only management and ownership remain," Dedi said on Tuesday (March 31, 2026). Dedi also held a meeting with zoo management and the Bandung City Government to discuss steps to save the animals and employees. For employees, the Bandung City Government has assumed responsibility for paying their salaries. The workers are now registered as employees under the city government. "Their salaries are covered by the Bandung City Government, under the direction of the mayor. They will begin receiving their salaries on April 25," he said. In addition, the West Java Provincial Government will gradually settle outstanding employee salaries. "The West Java Provincial Government will begin paying the outstanding salaries in installments on Friday," he said. Dedi also stated that the animals are in good condition and will be provided with nutrition assistance from the West Java Provincial Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD). "Their nutrition will also be supported by the Bank BJB Peduli program," he said. Dedi added that medical and paramedical personnel previously affected by operational delays will also receive additional income from the West Java Provincial Government, considering they have not received salaries for the past two months. Furthermore, the government is preparing a mechanism for appointing new managers through an open process. This step is expected to ensure professional zoo management. "The management is currently in the competition process. Anyone interested is welcome to participate, but they must be certified because managing a zoo is not easy," he said. Dedi hopes that once the renovations are complete, Bandung Zoo can reopen to the public. According to him, besides being a recreational area, the zoo plays an important role as a means of environmental education for children. "Hopefully, the zoo will reopen soon so the public can visit and this place can once again become an educational resource," he said.
