Our speakers for this session are FMCS Commissioner Joseph Trejo and Mediator Carolyn Borden. Joe Trejo is a Federal mediator with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) in the Columbus, Ohio field office. Mr. Trejo has been with the Agency since June 2011, starting his career in the Denver, Colorado field office. Mr. Trejo transferred to the Columbus field office in January 2019. As a Federal mediator, Mr. Trejo’s mission is to promote the development of sound and stable labor-management relationships. Mr. Trejo’s primary responsibilities include advocating, collective bargaining, developing and advocating the practice of conflict resolution through the use of alternative dispute resolution, and establishing a joint process to improve labor-management relationships. Carolyn Borden-Collins is a skilled mediator who takes pride in helping people reach mutually acceptable agreements. She believes the most satisfying and sustainable resolution to a conflict is one the parties develop themselves. Carolyn’s diverse professional and life experience has given her a balanced and insightful perspective on the conflict that can arise between employers and employees. Carolyn is the owner and president of Borden, White, & Associates, Inc., an alternative dispute resolution company.
