Tandberg Tape Deck 9000x Cross Head
Welcome to my 100th YouTube video. This is my first 'Workshop Repair' video for some tome as lockdown has prevented access to repairable equipment. However my very kind neighbour was turning out and found this Tandberg reel to reel tape deck which he very kindly offered me. It was manufactured in the mid 70's by Tandberg and at the time was considered a very 'high end' product. The model is 9000X and this one has an extra head and is known as a 'cross head' recorder, the extra head gives an improved high frequency response. The main problem was stiction on the pinch wheel mechanism which prevented playback and recording. It is still in the process of being cleaned and needs some knobs and lamps but apart from that works well. The music tape supplied contains a wealth of Irish Jigs, Laments and other folk dances, ongoing investigation as to who the performers were. Will make a future video when restoration is complete. Enjoy and please give me a 'lik', thank you.
