Ushijima Shrine is a historic shrine with a long history dating back to the Edo period, and its annual festival is attended by many local residents and tourists. In this video, we will show you the powerful mikoshi (portable shrine) and the excitement of people participating in the festival in the Mukojima 1-chome area. 🟢 What is Omikoshi? Omikoshi, or portable shrines, are sacred vehicles believed to be carried by the gods, and are paraded from shrine to shrine through the town during traditional Japanese festivals. Local residents join forces to carry the mikoshi, and their power and enthusiasm enlivens the festival. 🟢 About Ushijima Shrine Ushijima Shrine, located in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, is an ancient shrine with a history of over 1200 years.
