All of AQA Electricity Explained - GCSE 9-1 Physics REVISION
This video is a summary of all of AQA Electricity, explained for GCSE Physics 9-1. You can use this as an AQA Electricity revision tool. We cover electrical components symbols and their properties which enable us to simplify circuits so that we can draw them. These components include; switches, cells, batteries, ammeters, voltmeters, filament lamps, resistors, fuses, variable resistors, thermistors, light dependent resistors (LDRs), diodes and light emitting diodes (LEDs). It's important to be able to identify different I-V graphs to the corresponding component. There are series, parallel and real circuits. Series circuits are a single continuous loop of wire whereas parallel circuits have multiple loops of wire. Ammeters must be connected in series but voltmeters must be connected in parallel. Electricity equations: The charge (Q) carried past a particular point in a circuit within a certain time period is equal to the current (I) flowing through the circuit multiplied by the time period (t): Q = It The current (I) flowing through a component is equal to the potential difference across it (V) divided by its resistance (R): I = V/R The power (P) dissipated by a component is equal to the potential difference (V) across it multiplied by the resistance (R) of the component: P = IV, which is equivalent to P = I^2R Current can flow as direct current (DC) or as alternating current (AC). When a charge is built up but has nowhere to flow, static electricity occurs.
