Early Bird

This video presents an excerpt from Early Bird, part of my doctoral research in intercultural music composition. The work explores how Persian modal systems (dastgāh) and rhythmic concepts can function as generative forces within a contemporary ensemble setting. The excerpt illustrates a gradual transition from non-metric, āvāz-inspired expression toward the emergence of pulse and structured rhythmic organisation. It also highlights modal interaction and the integration of Persian musical thinking within an intercultural framework. This project is developed through practice-based research, combining composition, rehearsal, and performance as interconnected processes.
