This is ruining video games...

I want to make it extra clear that I actually don't believe in a single one of the arguments that this is needed given what the alternative to it COULD be. It SHOULD be that we ban cheats/vote kick cheaters and that we go after bad actors without affecting the ENTIRE gaming community. There are very few examples of where kernel level anti-cheat is even actually required. And even then - keeping things within a closed system (like with esports) would be better. But with PVE games, the absurdity that we should require kernel level anti cheat is plainly dumb. This is why I'm rooting so hard for SteamOS to win. Kernel-level anti-cheat should not be the default, we should have alternatives, and there should be better ways for the developers and the community to hold cheaters and hackers accountable, without given access of the highest priority to random game developers you've never heard of, or even worse, EA and Ubisoft. It sucks that I can't try Fellowship out, but now I just don't want to play it out of principle.
