In this intimate portrait by Special Correspondent, the great comedian reveals himself with his modesty, his knack for the perfect word, and the whimsy that made him one of the greatest acrobats of language. We see him at home, rehearsing, on stage in Switzerland despite stage fright and rheumatism, but also in front of his childhood home, where memories of a poverty-stricken childhood resurface. The documentary also revisits his early days at the Trois Baudets cabaret, his admiration for cabaret artists, his demanding vision of the comedy profession, and his rejection of vulgarity. Around him, his artist friends—Dany Boon, Maurane, Maxime Le Forestier, and Yves Duteil—pay tribute. Raymond Devos also speaks of Johnny Hallyday, whom he supported in his early days at the Alhambra, before a moving birthday surprise that brought together several generations of fans. A rare, both funny and poignant, documentary about an artist who never stopped working to bring joy to audiences.
